MASTER LICENSE: The expiration date for all Minnesota Master license holders is FEBRUARY 28, 2019.
RENEWAL DEADLINE RULE CHANGE FOR JOURNEYMAN & MASTER LICENSES
Per the MN DOLI: These licenses cannot be renewed unless the license holder has earned 16 hours of continuing education credit within the license term immediately preceding the license expiration date or until 16 hours of credit is earned and the license renewal fees are paid. INDIVIDUALS WHO FAIL TO RENEW THEIR LICENSE BY THE EXPIRATION DATE ARE UNLICENSED UNTIL THEY SUBMIT THEIR FORM AND FEE AND THE LICENSE IS ISSUED BY THE CONSTRUCTION CODES & LICENSING DIVISION. License anniversary dates (effective dates) do not change based on date of renewal.
Licenses that are not renewed BEFORE the expiration date are subject to a late fee equal to one year’s license fee. Renewal deadline when used with respect to a license, defined by the MN DOLI, means 30 days before the date that the license expires.
AS OF JULY 01, 2015, the MN DOLI Electrical License and Renewal Fees have been REDUCED to the following:
Cost to renew a Class A Master Electrical License was $118.80 and is now $88.00.
Cost to renew an expired Class A Master Electrical License was $158.80 and is now $125.50.
Cost to renew a Class A Journeyman Electrical License was $74.80 and is now $48.00.
Cost to renew an expired Class A Journeyman Electrical License was $94.80 and is now $65.50.
The intent is that you take the class 30 days in advance of the expiration date to allow for processing time.
CHECK ON YOUR LICENSE RENEWAL STATUS YOURSELF: JATC website has the option LINKS to click on which gets you to many sections including GOVERNMENT, then click 3rd item down which is MN DOLI Electrical Licensing & Inspection (formerly Board of Electricity). On left side of their page, 3rd blue bar down is LICENSE LOOK UP where you click Personal License Look Up. Follow the 2 steps and type in your last name to search. When you see your name listed there is DETAIL just to the left and when you click that all your information will appear and tell you it you have or not met your educational requirements to renew.
Licenses can be renewed instantly online 60 days before the expiration date at secure.doli.state.mn.us/license. Follow the steps to Renewal License or Certification and you can locate your information, renewal fees and steps to complete your renewal online; you may also change your address online in this area.
If one cancels or changes a class date seven (7) days BEFORE the start of the class, the previously paid $30.00 registration fee will be refunded or applied to another $30.00 like class. A cancellation less than seven (7) days before the class start, the registration fee will not be refunded (any book costs would be refunded). A class registration done less than seven (7) days before the start date will be charged a $15.00 late registration fee and also not refunded in case of cancellation.
